Dimensionism by Mariano Pieroni

11 August - 12 September 2019

at Apartment Art Gallery London

We are in many dimensions. We are plurals. We access interdimensional paths. Space and time can be travelled in any direction. You can travel endlessly, inside and outside your body. Space and time are instrumental to a reference need of our current consciousness of being. We are crossed by intersecting and transversal dimensions. Time and space, matter and all other universal constituents grow and change with the growth and movement of the consciousness of being. We model existence and life according to the need for references. We will make interdimensional paths. We will see the total mutation of all the spatio-temporal reference pivots: we will recognize ourselves in many "ourselves", in many "Big Bang". Will and representation will change. We will be different and we will decant the conquests of eternity into machines of various materials. We are among the living and among the dead, that is, here and there: death is also a tool as are time and space.

Mariano Pieroni

Siamo in varie dimensioni. Siamo plurali. Accediamo a percorsi interdimensionali. Spazio e tempo sono percorribili in ogni direzione. Si può viaggiare all’infinito, all’interno e all’esterno del nostro corpo.

Mariano Pieroni was born in Barga (Lu) on 17 June 1937. He lives and works in Solbiate Arno (Va), ideologist of the "Dimensionism" movement, he has been part of historical groups of the Lombard area: ''FREE ARTISTS OF VARESOTTO (LADPDV),

From 1952 to 1966 he lived in Florence and attended the studies of Rosai, Grazzini, Conti, the free school of nudity at the Academy of Fine Arts directed by Giorgio Settala.

He became a pupil of Silvio Polloni and in 1953-54 of Pietro Annigoni. Among his teachers there are also Ugo Seravalle (first teacher) and Emanuele Zambini (famous sculptor).

He met the great Italian-American artist Agostino Nivola during the summer of 1950 and followed his teachings at Villa Pozzolini in Quercianella.

After the school of nudity at the Academy of Florence, he moved from his first figurative training to the informal one, adopting various techniques such as "collage" and "frottage". During the Florentine years he attended, among others, the gallery "Numero" of Fiamma Vigo, he met the critic Boatto and Esther Panducci.

After the 1966 flood that flooded Florence, he was invited to Belgium, to Liège, and modelled, as a sculptor, the entire collection of the "Andrea Junkers".

After about a year he returned to Italy and since then has lived in Solbiate Arno. Since 1970 he has held more than 90 solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad including two in Geneva, three in Paris, two in Hamburg, then Bruxelle, Amsterdam, London, Rotterdam, New York, Boston and Atlantic City. He has won awards and participated in prestigious "collective" events. There is an already vast and articulated Bibliography of "Dimensionism": in addition to monographic works there are publications of articles, reviews, presentations in all the most important Italian newspapers, in various magazines and in foreign newspapers.

He has carried out public works including frescoes and sculptures, stained-glass windows, ceramics, works in welded iron, numerous bronzes and poly-material plastic material.

His works can be found in Italian and foreign museums. Since 1986 he has been the animator of a group called "Linea confinaria" (plasticoni).
